Dear Prospective Contestant:
Thank you for your interest in our program! The 2010
Our day will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. The school will open its doors at 9:30 a.m., at which time all contestants will need to bring their belongings into the school. All contestants must arrive at the school no later than 10:00 am, and be in the auditorium for orientation. Those who are late without notification, will be eliminated from the show.
Eligibility criteria is as follows:
1. A contestant must reside in the City of
2. A contestant must be 13 years of age and in the eighth grade on the date of the pageant.
3. A contestant must be no older than 17 and a junior in high school on the date of the national pageant
4. A contestant may NOT be 17, a senior in high school and eligible to compete in the Miss America local program.
5. Entry fee: $100.00 (if sponsored by a business, they will be named in the program book)
The competition phases are as follows:
Personal Interview - 35% - The interview consists of 6 minutes of questions from a panel of 7 judges. Questions will be based on your application, fact sheet, platform or current events.
Talent – 35% - Maximum time is 2:00. You must provide a CD of your accompaniment track or talent song at the time you submit your application.
Lifestyle & Fitness in Sportswear – 10% - A t-shirt will be provided for you. You must wear black shorts, white shoes. Each contestant will perform a quick fitness routine choreographed by the contestant coordinator.
Evening Wear & On-Stage Question - 20% - Must be floor length, any style or color. You will be asked an on-stage question, and will have 15 seconds to answer.
In addition, you will need a cocktail dress, any color or style for the introduction production number.
Your application will be complete upon receipt of the signed Contestant Contract and attachments (this includes proof of competition eligibility and a copy of your birth certificate), Contestant Contract & Contract Addendum, Contestant Platform Statement, Contestant Resume/Fact Sheet, Media Information Form, and a photograph. The photograph should be no smaller than a 5X7, and preferably a headshot. This will be returned to you after the completion of the program.
Your completed application and all associated items must be completed and postmarked no later than January 2, 2010. Once I have received your completed packet, I will notify you via email that you are a confirmed entrant.
