Emily wins Theresa Ann Wagner Committment to Excellence Award

           

Congratulations to Emily, as she was the recipient of the Theresa Ann Wagner Committment to Excellence Award at the Miss Ohio Pageant on June 19, 2009.  Emily received a $500 Scholarship.

The award was presented by Theresa Ann's niece, Isabelle Jedra.

Dove Campaign for Real Beauty Presentation at Eagle Point Elementary

Emily presented the 4th grade class at Eagle Point Elementary School with the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty, helping young girls understand the importance of a healthy self esteem and self image. After the presentation, each of the young girls were able to be Miss Bay Village for a minute, as they tried on the official Miss America Crown.

Emily concluded the presentation by signing autographs and extending her contact information, should any of the young girls have questions regarding her presentation or about having a positive self image.

        Mistress of Ceremonies for Mr. RHS 2009           

On May 8, 2009, Emily served as Mistress of Ceremonies for the 2nd Annual, Mr. RHS Mangeant, held at Rossford High School.

Out and About......Supporting other Miss Ohio Locals!

 Throughout the pageant season, many title holders attend other local programs to support their peers and cheer on their friends.  Emily has attended many locals during the season and below are some of her photos

On March 28, 2009 Emily attended the Rossford Business Fair in her hometown.

 

There she spoke with several business owners, signed autographs and let people know what the Miss America Organization is all about.

 

After the event, she was able to speak with a few girls about her platform, the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty.

Even though Rossford is a short drive to Bay Village, Emily is thankful to have a "home away from home" in nearby Avon Lake, OH, Bay Village's neighbor to the west.

Congratulations Emily Pheils - Miss Bay Village 2009

                                         

On Saturday evening February 28, 2009, Emily Pheils, a 19-year-old from Rossford was chosen Miss Bay Village 2009, which was held at Bay High School.  The competition featured 9 contestants from around the State of Ohio.

Moments after being selected, Pheils shared her excitement about winning the title “I am really looking forward to my duties this year, traveling, meeting new people and getting the word out about my platform which is the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty”. “I am excited to spread my message and promote a positive self image for women”.

As Miss Bay Village, Pheils received a $500 scholarship and the opportunity to represent the Bay Village area at the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program in Mansfield, OH in June.  Pheils is a sophomore at Bowling Green State University, and is majoring in Popular Culture with a minor in Marketing. Her career ambition is to have a career in commercial advertising. She is the daughter of David and Lora Pheils of Rossford.

The first runner up was Jackie Jerlecki of Goshen, IN, and was also the recipient of the preliminary swimsuit and interview awards. Second runner-up was Hollie Hongosh of Olmsted Twp and was also the recipient of the preliminary talent award.

The Miss Bay Village Scholarship Program is an official Miss America preliminary competition.  The Miss America Organization is one of the nation’s leading achievement programs and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women.  Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance.
